GREENVILLE, Texas — Greenville Independent School District announced its Health Services Department has received more than $22,000 in federal grant funding to purchase new medical screening and emergency response equipment for campuses across the district.
District officials said the funding will support student health services, campus nursing operations, emergency preparedness, screenings, and staff medical training throughout Greenville ISD.
CPR Training Equipment Added Across District
Among the largest purchases were new CPR training resources valued at approximately $5,668, including:
- 16 adult CPR manikins
- 16 infant CPR manikins
- Updated CPR manuals
- Additional training materials
The district said the equipment will help staff better prepare for medical emergencies on campuses.
New Hearing and Vision Screening Tools
The grant also funded upgraded screening equipment used for student health evaluations.
Purchases included:
- Five audiometers valued at $5,875
- Four vision screeners valued at $2,062
Greenville ISD additionally purchased a Welch Allyn Vision Spot Screener valued at more than $7,300 to improve the speed and accuracy of student vision screenings.
Emergency Evacuation Equipment Installed
The district also added four evacuation chairs for use at:
- Greenville High School
- Greenville Middle School
The chairs, valued at approximately $1,160, are designed to help safely evacuate individuals with mobility limitations during emergencies.
Rachael Thurmond said the funding will strengthen both campus safety and staff preparedness.
“This grant provided Health Services with the tools to perform better screenings and equipment for staff to respond and protect,” Thurmond said. “It helps us support learning, keep staff prepared, and strengthen safety on every campus in Greenville ISD.”
District officials said the new equipment will be used throughout Greenville ISD campuses as the district continues prioritizing student wellness, emergency readiness, and campus safety.
