GUN BARREL CITY, Texas — A stolen 18-wheeler led officers on a multi-county pursuit Saturday afternoon before two suspects were taken into custody, according to police.
Officers were dispatched around 3:27 p.m. on April 4th to an area behind a Burger King after receiving a report of a stolen 18-wheeler that was still running.
Upon arrival, officers found a male suspect inside the cab. An officer removed the keys from the ignition in an attempt to prevent the vehicle from leaving, but authorities determined the truck had been hot-wired. The suspect then fled, prompting officers to initiate a pursuit.
The chase continued into Van Zandt County, where it came to a stop near VZ County Road 2514 and VZ County Road 2517.
With assistance from multiple agencies in Kaufman and Van Zandt counties, officers were able to safely take both a male and female suspect into custody without further incident.
Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing, and no additional details have been released at this time.
