Denton Man Sentenced to 10 Years in Federal Prison for Meth Trafficking Conspiracy

SHERMAN, Texas — A Denton man has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for his role in a large-scale methamphetamine trafficking operation, according to U.S. Attorney Jay R. Combs.

Brandon Lynn Hunter, 41, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess with intent to manufacture and distribute methamphetamine. U.S. District Judge Amos L. Mazzant III sentenced him to 120 months in federal prison on March 31, 2026.

According to court records, Hunter was identified in 2021 as a source of methamphetamine in the Denton area. A search of his residence in June of that year led to the seizure of more than 35 grams of methamphetamine along with drug trafficking paraphernalia.

Investigators said Hunter admitted to participating in a conspiracy responsible for distributing at least 45 kilograms of a substance containing methamphetamine across the Eastern District of Texas.

The case was investigated by multiple agencies, including the Drug Enforcement Administration, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Denton Police Department, Pilot Point Police Department, Little Elm Police Department, Cooke County Sheriff’s Office, Denton County Sheriff’s Office, and the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Matthew T. Johnson prosecuted the case.
