CADDO MILLS, Texas — A man is in custody after allegedly threatening residents and assaulting multiple officers during a chaotic incident Saturday evening, authorities said.
Officers with the Caddo Mills Police Department were dispatched around 6:28 p.m. on March 28, 2026, to the 2000 block of Laura Street regarding a man in the street exhibiting abnormal behavior and yelling threats toward a residence.
When officers arrived, the suspect fled into a nearby field and attempted to hide in a creek. As officers closed in, the man reportedly charged at one of them, ignoring commands to stop. An officer deployed a taser, but it was ineffective.
Police said the suspect then violently resisted arrest, striking an officer in the face and head with his fists before fleeing further into the field. A second officer was also injured while attempting to assist in the arrest.
With assistance from deputies with the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office and a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper, officers were eventually able to locate and apprehend the suspect.
Both injured officers were transported to Hunt County Regional Hospital for treatment and are currently under observation.
The suspect was taken to the Hunt County Jail and is facing multiple charges, including:
- Terroristic Threat – Family Violence (2 counts)
- Evading Arrest
- Resisting Arrest
- Assault on a Public Servant
- Terroristic Threat on a Public Servant (3 counts)
He was identified as 32-year-old Quintais Ray Rector and his bond was set at $177,500.
Authorities thanked assisting agencies and medical personnel for their response and care provided to the injured officers.
