A routine traffic stop conducted by the Texas Department of Public Safety (TxDPS) on Tuesday resulted in the arrest of a Honduran National on charges of human smuggling. In a shocking twist, the passenger accompanying the driver was identified as Dagoberto Corea Mendez, an illegal immigrant from Honduras, who was found in possession of disturbing images of child pornography on his phone.
The traffic stop took place on a local highway near Bracketville, Texas, in Kinney County where TxDPS troopers apprehended the driver, whose identity has not been released, on suspicion of involvement in human smuggling. Further investigation during the stop led troopers to inspect the passenger's phone, where they discovered alarming content.
Dagoberto Corea Mendez, the illegal immigrant from Honduras, was found to be in possession of five images of child pornography depicting female children. DPS Special Agents, who took over the case, revealed that Corea Mendez admitted to using the explicit material for his own sexual gratification.
