JEFFERSON, Texas - A Harrison County fugitive wanted on multiple felony charges was arrested February 12, 2026, after investigators found him hiding beneath a vacant residence in Jefferson, authorities said.
The Harrison County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division, along with the Harrison County Joint Narcotics and Violent Crimes Task Force, located and arrested Denver Cass Simmons without incident.
Simmons was booked into the Harrison County Jail on seven felony warrants, including Criminal Mischief greater than $300,000, Tampering with Oil and Gas Equipment, Theft of Property between $30,000 and $150,000, Evading Arrest with a Vehicle, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, Theft of Copper Material and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle.
During the arrest, Angelina Eschenbach was also taken into custody and charged with Hindering Apprehension of a Fugitive, a third-degree felony.
Authorities said the charges stem from an ongoing investigation into the theft of copper wiring and significant damage to an oilfield facility in Harrison County.
The Sheriff’s Office credited the Marion County Sheriff’s Office and the Jefferson Police Department for assisting in the apprehension.
"This arrest is the result of the dedication and persistence of our investigators and neighboring agencies. Individuals like Simmons, who commit serious crimes and attempt to evade law enforcement, will be located and held accountable. We remain committed to protecting our community and pursuing those responsible for criminal activity," said Sheriff B.J. Fletcher.
