Throughout the week of July 26 to August 1, 2023, the Wood County Sheriff's Office responded to various incidents, including warrant services, assaults, welfare checks, and disturbances.
July 26:
- Deputy Skinner performed a warrant service in Alba, resulting in the arrest of Shane Davis for an active warrant.
- Deputy Hughes responded to Mineola PD for an assault, which occurred out of county. The victim was transported to a hotel, and the appropriate agency was contacted.
- Sgt Mayer assisted Franklin County with a pursuit that ended with the arrest of suspect Donny Bass, who was then transported to Hopkins Co.
July 27:
- Deputy Rapp took an assault report in the lobby, where the victim stated she was assaulted by her husband back in June. The case was forwarded to investigations.
- Deputy Rapp took a request to speak by phone, where the caller reported his father took his firearms several months ago, and the father was advised to return them.
- Deputy Comeaux conducted a welfare check at Lake Winnsboro and arrested Brandy Flowers, who had an active warrant.
- Sgt Mayer conducted a motorist assist on Hwy 80, leading to the arrest of Travis Moskowitz, who had active warrants.
July 28:
- Sgt Morison and Deputy Way responded to a suicidal subject on Hwy 154, and the subject was transported to receive treatment.
- Sgt Williams responded to a dog bite incident on County Road 1122, and the victim received treatment at the hospital.
- Sgt Williams, Deputy Way, and Deputy Smith performed a warrant service in Yantis, resulting in the arrest of Joshua Back for an outstanding warrant.
July 29:
- Sgt Morrison and Deputy Pollard responded to a suspicious person on FM 2869 and arrested Darrell King for public intoxication.
- Corporal Croney handled a request to speak by phone, where the caller reported his father refused to return his firearms, and the situation was resolved.
- Sgt Williams and Deputy Way responded to a suicidal subject who was transported to receive treatment.
- Corporal Rapp, Deputy Rich, and Deputy Smith responded to another suicidal subject incident, but the subject was not located.
July 30:
- Corporal Croney took a fraud report by phone, where the victim fell victim to a PayPal scam.
- Deputy Pollard took a theft report by phone, where a male attempted to break into a residence and stole a bike before fleeing.
- Deputy Rich initiated a traffic stop and arrested Jimmy Petrea for an active warrant.
July 31:
- Deputy Hughes responded to a disturbance on County Road 4494, where the victim reported being assaulted by her boyfriend. Charges were pursued.
- Corporal Burdick and Deputy Comeaux responded to a disturbance on County Road 2375, which will be forwarded to investigations.
- Deputy Hughes responded to a criminal trespass on County Road 1975, where the suspect was issued a criminal trespass and an offense report was completed for the assault.
August 1:
- Deputy Hughes responded to a disturbance on FM 17, where the caller was trespassed from the residence.
- Deputy Hughes was dispatched to a theft on County Road 3155, where a theft report was completed.
- Sgt Mayer and Corporal Burdick responded to a disturbance on County Road 4608, leading to the arrest of Jesse Wilson for assault.
- Corporal Burdick, Deputy Hughes, and Deputy Comeaux responded to a criminal trespass on County Road 3144, where the suspect fled the scene, and an offense report was completed.
