Arrest Made in 2018 Chandler Murders of Father and Daughter After Years-Long Investigation

Victims: Gabriel McBride and Beverly McBride

CHANDLER, TX - The Henderson County Sheriff’s Office announced a major breakthrough this week in the long-unsolved 2018 murders of a Chandler father and daughter, marking the end of a years-long investigation that authorities say never went cold.

Gabriel McBride, 47, and his 17-year-old daughter, Beverly McBride, were found inside a home in the 20000 block of Woodridge West near Chandler on December 10, 2018. Investigators determined Beverly died at the scene from a gunshot wound. Gabriel was found alive but critically injured and was airlifted to a Tyler hospital, where he later died.

After more than seven years of investigative work, authorities say new evidence and witness information led investigators to identify Lance Kaeden Rains, now 25, of Chandler, as the suspect. Rains was 18 years old at the time of the killings and had a relationship with Beverly McBride. Investigators have not released a motive, stating it will be addressed during court proceedings.

Following a review of the case, 392nd Judicial District Judge Scott McKee issued an arrest warrant for Rains, setting bond at $2 million. Rains was taken into custody on Saturday, January 10, 2026, and booked into the Henderson County Jail on a charge of Capital Murder.

Sheriff Botie Hillhouse said the arrest reflects years of persistence by investigators who remained committed to the McBride family despite the passage of time.

“Our investigators never stopped working for this family,” Hillhouse said. “Time does not diminish our commitment to justice, and today’s arrest is proof that we will pursue the truth for as long as it takes.”

The sheriff’s office credited detailed forensic analysis and cooperation among multiple agencies for the breakthrough, including the Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas Rangers, the Henderson County District Attorney’s Office, the Henderson County Attorney’s Office, the Midwest City Police Department in Oklahoma, and community members who continued to provide information.

Officials emphasized the investigation remains active as the case moves through the judicial system, reiterating their message that justice, even delayed, remains a priority.
