Greenville police have arrested a suspect following a violent assault that left one man dead and an elderly man injured at a residence on Commerce Drive.
Officers with the Greenville Police Department were dispatched around 4:59 p.m. on December 22, 2025, to a reported assault in the 1100 block of Commerce Drive. When officers arrived, they found an elderly male victim suffering from visible head injuries. He was transported to a hospital, where he is being treated for injuries believed to be non-life-threatening.
While securing the residence and checking for additional victims, officers discovered a deceased male inside the home.
Investigators quickly identified a suspect and obtained a warrant for Aggravated Assault for Avery Jaiden Wood, a white male born April 9, 2006. Police said Wood was believed to be driving a red 2015 Kia Soul with Texas license plate WTW 4175 and was known to have ties to Mississippi. Authorities warned the public not to approach him and asked anyone with information to contact police.
On December 23, the Greenville Police Department confirmed that Wood had been located and arrested. No additional details regarding the arrest or the circumstances surrounding the incident have been released.
