On November 4 and 5, 2025, the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office conducted multiple narcotics operations in and around Malakoff, Texas, resulting in the arrest of five individuals.
The first operation occurred on November 4 at a residence in the 400 block of North Smith Street. Led by Narcotics Investigators Jonathan Barrios and K-9 Deputy Edwin Rodriguez, investigators executed a search warrant issued by 392nd Judicial District Judge Scott McKee. During the search, Ricardo Castaneda Cruz was taken into custody after officers discovered containers with suspected cocaine and methamphetamine, several plastic baggies and scales commonly used for narcotics distribution, a large amount of cash, and two firearms. Castaneda Cruz admitted to selling the drugs and was booked into the Henderson County Jail for two counts of Manufacture or Delivery of a Controlled Substance.
At the same time, a second team led by Narcotics Investigator Jude Bonner executed a search warrant at a nearby residence on the 300 block of Olive Street. Carlos Soto and Jenifer Hughes were arrested. Officers observed Soto attempting to discard narcotics in the front yard. Inside the home, suspected methamphetamine and distribution paraphernalia were recovered. Soto was booked for Manufacture or Delivery of a Controlled Substance and Tampering with or Fabricating Physical Evidence, while Hughes was booked for Possession of a Controlled Substance.
Also on November 4, deputies Blake Forney, Dahltyn Mckinley, and Sgt. Patrick Johnson conducted a traffic stop on FM 3054 in the Log Cabin area after observing a 2012 black Ford F-150 traveling at high speed. During the stop, officers detected the odor of marijuana and found a small bag containing Acetaminophen and Hydrocodone, as well as mushrooms. Quincy Larry was arrested and booked for Possession of a Controlled Substance PG 2 >4G <400G and PG 3 <28G.
The following day, November 5, Deputy Mckinley and Sgt. Johnson stopped a 2006 Ford in the 7100 block of US 175 for a motorist assist. A search of the vehicle revealed a bag containing a white crystal-like substance suspected to be methamphetamine. Amanda Toombs was arrested and booked for Possession of a Controlled Substance PG 1 >1G <4G.
All five individuals are currently awaiting arraignment.
This series of operations is evidence of the ongoing efforts of the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office’s to combat illegal drug activity in the area.
