Crandall, TX - Crandall Volunteer Fire Department (CVFD) Fire Chief Carl Sheller released the following statement in response to the recent election results:
“In light of the recent election results, we believe it is important to provide clarity and reaffirm our position.
First and foremost, the Crandall Volunteer Fire Department will continue to honor all existing contracts with both the City of Crandall and Emergency Services District #7 (ESD #7). While the proposition garnered both strong support and opposition, it served as a valuable opportunity to highlight concerns and priorities the department has been raising for over five years.
Looking ahead, we want to emphasize CVFD’s commitment to collaboration. Despite public statements made by individual City Council members following the election, our focus remains on fostering cooperation between the City and ESD #7. We firmly believe that a sustainable, full-time fire service model cannot be achieved independently by either entity. Both parties must come together to establish a unified strategy that ensures continued high-quality fire protection for city and county residents alike.
At present, ESD #7 has a master plan that will move forward regardless of the election outcome. The City has also requested that CVFD develop its own plan. However, it’s important to note that neither the City nor ESD #7 currently has the necessary regulatory infrastructure to operate a full-time fire department independently, without CVFD’s support.
The Crandall Volunteer Fire Department remains committed to working collaboratively with all stakeholders to build a strong, sustainable, and effective fire service for our community.”
