High-Speed Pursuit Through Texarkana Ends in Crash, Suspect Arrested

Anthony Epps

TEXARKANA, AR – A high-speed chase that began in Texas and crossed into Arkansas ended in a crash and arrest on Thursday afternoon.

On September 25, 2025, at approximately 4:13 p.m., the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department (TAPD) was notified by the Texarkana Texas Police Department (TTPD) of a pursuit involving a gold Mercury Grand Marquis that had entered Arkansas via E. 12th Street from North State Line Avenue.

TAPD units joined the chase in the 1000 block of Locust Street, keeping radio contact and relaying the suspect’s movements. The driver, later identified as Anthony Epps, failed to stop at multiple intersections, reached speeds more than 25 mph over the limit, and dangerously passed a school bus with its stop lights activated in the 1600 block of Grand Avenue.

The pursuit continued until Epps turned around near E. 32nd Street and crashed into a SWEPCO utility pole on E. 31st Street. He fled on foot but was quickly apprehended by TTPD Officer Lummus.

Epps now faces felony fleeing charges related to reckless driving and passing a stopped school bus, along with misdemeanor fleeing on foot. Authorities also discovered he had an active misdemeanor warrant out of Conway, Arkansas, for failure to appear. Police believe this may have been his reason for running.

Epps was taken to St. Michael’s South for medical evaluation following the crash, cleared, and later booked into Miller County Jail.

TAPD praised the cooperation between agencies. “By working together across jurisdictional lines, both departments were able to contain a dangerous situation, protect our community, and bring the suspect into custody without further incident,” the department said in a statement.
