HUNT COUNTY, Texas — A 20-year-old Garland man has been arrested in connection with the 2024 death of an infant in Royse City.
On August 27, 2025, the U.S. Marshals Service served a Hunt County arrest warrant at an apartment complex in Garland, taking Andrew Lynn Garza into custody. Garza is charged with Capital Murder of a Person Under Ten Years of Age and was transported to the Hunt County Detention Center, where he is being held on a $1,250,000 bond.
The charge stems from a November 2024 incident, when the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office responded to the reported death of an infant at a residence on Mesa Court in Royse City. The child was taken to Children’s Hospital in Dallas, where doctors later pronounced the child deceased. An autopsy conducted by the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the cause of death, leading investigators to pursue charges.
Following a months-long investigation by the Crimes Against Children Investigators of the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office, a warrant for Garza’s arrest was issued and signed by Judge Keli Aiken of the 354th District Court.
Sheriff Terry Jones commended both his investigators and the U.S. Marshals Service, stating their dedication and persistence were key in bringing Garza into custody.
Garza remains behind bars as the investigation continues.
