A routine traffic stop turned into a significant arrest on Monday night, July 24, 2023, when officers from the Kilgore Police Department discovered a reported stolen gun and drugs in the suspect's vehicle. The incident led to a brief pursuit before the man was apprehended and taken into custody.
According to the Kilgore Police Department, officers initiated the traffic stop after observing violations committed by the driver. As they approached the vehicle, law enforcement officers immediately noticed marijuana in plain sight, prompting further investigation.
Upon instructing the driver to exit the vehicle, the suspect decided to flee on foot. A short but intense chase ensued, with officers successfully capturing the individual after a few moments.
Following the apprehension, the police conducted a comprehensive search of the suspect's vehicle. Their search yielded about .69 ounces of marijuana, along with substances suspected to be promethazine, a controlled substance. Moreover, the officers discovered a Glock 19X handgun, which had been reported stolen in Harris County.
The authorities wasted no time in placing the man under arrest. He now faces a series of serious charges, including evading arrest, possession of marijuana, theft of a firearm, and resisting arrest.
