SHERMAN, TX – A Sherman man, Ryan Deshaun Edd, 37, has been sentenced to 20 years in federal prison for drug trafficking violations in the Eastern District of Texas. U.S. District Judge Amos L. Mazzant, III, handed down the 240-month sentence on July 30, 2025, after Edd pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine.
According to court documents, law enforcement received information in November 2022 that Edd was trafficking large quantities of methamphetamine in the Grayson County area. On November 16, 2022, a vehicle in which Edd was a passenger was stopped for traffic violations on U.S. Highway 75. A search of the vehicle uncovered a large plastic bag containing 1.22 kilograms of methamphetamine and a loaded revolver.
The investigation revealed that the driver, Zacheriah Alexander of Denison, had been working with Edd to sell methamphetamine for approximately six months. Alexander was previously sentenced to 135 months in federal prison for his role in the offense.
Edd will begin serving his federal sentence after he completes a 45-year state sentence for an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon he committed in January 2023.
The case was investigated by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office, and the Sherman Police Department. It was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Matthew T. Johnson.
