Longview Firefighters Deployed to Kerrville for Swiftwater Rescues Amid Catastrophic Flooding

At the request of Texas A&M Task Force 1 and the Texas Division of Emergency Management, the Longview Fire Department deployed eight members of its Water Rescue Team to assist with flood rescue operations in Kerrville following catastrophic flooding in the area.

The deployment includes one Water Group Supervisor, one Technical Support Specialist, and a six-person Swiftwater Rescue Team. The crew has been operating in the Kerrville area since the early morning hours of July 4, performing multiple rescues of individuals trapped in trees, vehicles, and debris under dangerous and challenging conditions.

The team continues to assist in search and rescue operations alongside local, state, and national response partners as efforts to locate missing individuals continue.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with all who have been impacted and have lost family members and loved ones," the department said in a statement.
