VAN ZANDT COUNTY, TX – James Chandler Groessel was arrested Wednesday, July 3, 2025, after a traffic stop in the Rolling Oaks Subdivision led to the discovery of heroin and methamphetamine in his vehicle.
Van Zandt County Narcotics Investigators initiated the stop on a gold Buick occupied by Groessel. During the investigation, assistance was requested from a Greenville, TX Police Department K9 unit, which alerted investigators to the presence of illegal narcotics. A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered both heroin and methamphetamine.
The Van Zandt County Precinct 3 Constable’s Office also assisted in the investigation.
Groessel was transported to the Van Zandt County Jail and booked on charges of Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 (greater than or equal to 4 grams but less than 200 grams) and Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1/1-B (less than 1 gram). He is currently awaiting arraignment.
Sheriff Bridger commented on the ongoing efforts, stating, “Your Narcotics team continues to work closely with our citizens to stop the flow of illegal narcotics within the County. Our Narcotics Team is out every day making the County a safer place to live.”
