A Milam woman has been sentenced to 33 months in federal prison for stealing from her employer, Doches Credit Union, in the Eastern District of Texas, announced Acting U.S. Attorney Jay R. Combs.
Haley Maxine Snodgrass, 29, pleaded guilty to credit union theft and was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Marcia A. Crone on July 1, 2025. In addition to the prison sentence, Snodgrass was ordered to pay $330,351.39 in restitution.
According to court documents, concerns arose in April 2023 when an auditor requested a sample of loans from the Hemphill branch and discovered missing paperwork and suspicious transactions. Snodgrass, employed with Doches Credit Union since 2016 and promoted to branch manager, was found to have used multiple fraudulent schemes to take funds for personal use.
The investigation revealed that Snodgrass created fraudulent loans, refinanced real loans without consent, misappropriated loan payments, and made unauthorized transactions on member accounts. As part of her plea, she admitted to embezzling approximately $281,097.97 from the credit union.
The case was investigated by the FBI’s Lufkin Field Office and the Texas Department of Public Safety, and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Lauren Gaston.
