TEXARKANA, Texas — A 53-year-old man has died following a motorcycle crash Friday evening in Texarkana in Texas, according to police.
Russell Daily, of Texarkana, Arkansas, was traveling eastbound on West Seventh Street at a high rate of speed when he was unable to navigate a curve just past the CPKC Railroad underpass, investigators said.
Police said the motorcycle left the roadway and struck a metal bench at the T-Line bus stop at Elm Street.
Daily was transported to CHRISTUS St. Michael Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Traffic investigators determined that excessive speed and the use of a vehicle tire on the motorcycle were primary contributing factors in the crash. Authorities also noted that Daily was not wearing a helmet at the time.
The Texarkana Police Department extended condolences to the victim’s family and friends.
