On Thursday night, May 15, 2025, Sulphur Springs Police responded to a domestic disturbance call at an apartment complex on Duckworth Street around 10:00 PM.
Upon arrival, officers made contact with a female victim who reported being assaulted. According to the victim, a male suspect struck her in the face with an open hand during an altercation. Officers observed visible redness on the woman’s left cheek consistent with her account of the incident.
Following the investigation at the scene, officers arrested 27-year-old Willie Ray Copeland Jr. He was transported to the Hopkins County Jail and charged with Assault Causing Bodily Injury on a Family Member.
No additional injuries were reported.
