A 79-year-old man was found dead in his boat on Lake Tawakoni on Monday, May 5, 2025, following a multi-agency search that began after he was reported missing that afternoon.
According to the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office, the man had launched from the Caddo Creek Landing Boat Ramp earlier that morning to go fishing. When he failed to return, concerned family members located his vehicle and trailer still parked at the ramp and notified authorities around 3:00 p.m.
Deputies, along with Texas Parks and Wildlife Game Wardens, South Hunt County Fire Rescue, and the Precinct 4 Constable’s Office, began a search operation. The fisherman was later located deceased in his anchored boat in a shallow cove.
A breathing treatment device was found onboard, and investigators believe the man may have suffered a medical emergency related to asthma. No foul play is suspected. The Hunt County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate.
