A 44-year-old Heath woman has been sentenced to five years in prison following her conviction on two felony counts of indecency with a child, according to officials with the Rockwall County District Attorney’s Office.
Natalie Sorrells, a local real estate agent, was initially arrested in February and faced four charges related to inappropriate conduct with a 13-year-old boy, reportedly a friend of her son. While two charges of aggravated sexual assault of a child were dismissed, she was found guilty on both counts of indecency with a child.
Court documents confirm that Sorrells received a sentence of 30 months for each count, ordered to run consecutively by the judge, resulting in a total five-year prison term. She was also fined $10,000 as part of the ruling.
The case originated when the victim’s mother discovered deleted text messages between her child and Sorrells. The child subsequently disclosed inappropriate contact to authorities.
Sorrells, who had previously volunteered at Lakepointe Church in Rockwall, was not alleged to have committed any misconduct on church property. Following her arrest, church officials issued a public statement clarifying that none of the incidents were connected to any church event or property.
