The Rockwall Police Department issued the following scam alert.
Rockwall County residents need to be aware that the "Jury Duty Scam" has returned. Scammers will call potential victims and pretend to be an officer from one of our local law enforcement agencies. The scammer then informs his potential victims that they failed to report for jury service and that an arrest warrant would be issued if they do not pay the fine.
The scammer will then request credit card information or instruct the victim to go obtain prepaid credit/gift cards and provide the numbers over the phone.
