Stabbing Incident in Commerce Leads to Arrest Following Altercation

On Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at approximately 1:00 p.m., Commerce Police responded to a call about an altercation in the 700 block of Culver Street. Officers from both the Commerce Police Department and University Police quickly arrived at the scene, where it was reported that a man had been seen leaving the area and that a gun had been involved in the incident.

Officers located the suspect leaving the area near the intersection of Culver and Mangum Streets. At the same time, a second man was found with multiple stab wounds and in need of medical attention. Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to assist.

Investigators from the Commerce Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division, along with on-duty officers, discovered multiple weapons and additional evidence related to the incident.

Christopher Fershov Williams of Commerce, a suspect in the case, was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. The investigation remains ongoing.
