On Sunday, April 20, 2025, Greenville Police officers responded to a welfare check in the 2900 block of Hemphill Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 66-year-old male lying on the floor of his residence with a head wound. Investigators believe he was struck with a blunt object.
The victim was immediately transported to a Plano hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on Sunday, April 27, 2025.
Following further investigation, an arrest warrant was issued on April 29, 2025, for 29-year-old Thilan Herath Mudiyanselage, an Asian male originally from Sri Lanka, for the offense of murder. Mudiyanselage was apprehended later that day.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing. Authorities clarified that any previous information released about the case did not come from the Greenville Police Department.
