Teen Shot in Tyler Parking Lot: Suspect on the Loose, Police Seek Leads

On Friday, January 17th, at approximately 5:30 PM, officers with the Tyler Police Department responded to reports of a shooting in the parking lot of the 900 block of Blackwell Ave. Tyler EMS and Fire Department crews also arrived at the scene, where they located a 15-year-old male victim who had sustained a gunshot wound to his leg. The victim, alert and conscious, was transported to a local hospital by EMS.

Tyler Police Crimes Against Persons detectives and Crime Scene Investigators are currently working on the case. According to investigators, the suspect involved is a black male driving a white Kia Sorento with Texas license plate number VNN7221. Authorities consider the suspect and anyone in the vehicle to be armed and dangerous. The shooting is believed to have been targeted, and this is not a random act of violence.

The investigation is ongoing, and police are asking anyone with information to contact the Tyler Police Department at (903) 531-1000.
