The Delta County Sheriff's Office had a busy New Year's holiday, making six arrests and towing five vehicles within a 48-hour period. The arrests ranged from felonies to misdemeanors, reflecting the department's focus on public safety during the high-traffic holiday period.
The first arrest occurred on December 31 at 6:00 PM, when 65-year-old Henry Padilla of Cooper was taken into custody on a third-degree felony warrant for online solicitation of a minor. The arrest stemmed from a December 21 report alleging Padilla sent sexually explicit messages to a minor. Padilla was booked into the Delta County Jail.
At 8:30 PM, deputies responded to a disturbance in the 5300 block of Texas State Highway 154. They arrested 20-year-old Cooper resident Lola Willson on a Class A misdemeanor charge of making a terroristic threat against a family or household member. Willson was later released on bond pending trial.
Later that night, deputies stopped a caravan towing unregistered vehicles on Texas State Highway 24 near Greenhill Lane. The vehicles were impounded after the driver failed to provide proof of ownership or registration.
At 1:16 AM on January 1, a traffic stop on Texas State Highway 24 led to the arrest of Seagoville residents Rayburn Lee, 65, and Penny Graves, 55. Both were charged with second-degree felony possession of a controlled substance after officers discovered 4 to 200 grams of suspected methamphetamine. They were booked into the Delta County Jail.
Shortly after 11:30 AM, state troopers and deputies responded to a crash on Texas State Highway 24 near County Road 2165. The driver, 26-year-old Keinard Setik of Paris, was arrested for driving while intoxicated, a Class B misdemeanor, after striking a guardrail and veering into a ditch.
The final arrest occurred following a domestic disturbance call in the 800 block of County Road 2025. Deputies arrested 63-year-old Klondike resident Michael Hammack for allegedly pointing a firearm at his girlfriend's head. Hammack was charged with second-degree felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and third-degree felony possession of a firearm by a felon. He remains in custody.
The Delta County Sheriff's Office emphasized that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
