Traffic Stop in Hopkins County Leads to Arrest on Drug and Obscenity Charges

On December 30, 2024, a routine traffic stop conducted by Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Chavez resulted in the arrest of Daniel Scott Clark on multiple charges, including drug possession and possession of obscene materials.

The incident occurred when Trooper Chavez stopped a GMC Sierra. During the interaction, Clark’s suspicious behavior prompted additional questioning. Upon receiving Clark’s consent to search the vehicle, the following items were discovered:

  • Two containers of methamphetamine
  • Less than two ounces of marijuana
  • A backpack containing more than six obscene items of a sexual nature

Clark was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 1 (less than 1 gram)
  • Possession of Marijuana (less than 2 ounces)
  • Possession of more than six obscene items, in violation of Texas Penal Code 43.23(f)

The GMC Sierra was impounded by Fuller’s Towing following an inventory of its contents. Clark was transported to the Hopkins County Jail, where he was booked on the charges.
