On Tuesday morning, December 17th, at approximately 1:12 AM, a Paris police officer noticed a grey Chevy SUV parked at a gas station in the 1600 block of North Main Street. The officer recognized the driver as 38-year-old John Michael Daniels, who was known to have multiple outstanding warrants from the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office.
After confirming the warrants, the officer detained Daniels and took him into custody without incident. Daniels was arrested on two separate felony bond surrender warrants for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and one Class "A" bond surrender warrant for Assault Causes Bodily Injury or Family Violence.
The felony warrants were linked to an incident that occurred in September in the 2400 block of Simpson Street, where Daniels allegedly struck a vehicle containing two occupants with his SUV. The Class "A" assault charge stemmed from a separate incident in July in the 2600 block of North Main, where Daniels reportedly physically assaulted one of the same victims involved in the September incident.
Daniels was booked into the Paris Jail and is awaiting further legal proceedings.
