In a devastating incident on Thursday evening, emergency responders were dispatched to the scene of a single-vehicle crash on Farm to Market Road 709, located near the town of Retreat, just south of Corsicana. The accident occurred at approximately 8:40 pm, prompting a swift and coordinated response from local authorities.
Preliminary investigations conducted at the crash site indicate that a vehicle was traveling northbound on FM 709 when, for reasons yet to be determined, the driver veered off the side of the road and collided with a culvert. The impact propelled the vehicle into the air before it rolled multiple times, resulting in the ejection of the driver and two passengers seated in the rear.
Tragically, all three individuals involved in the accident succumbed to their injuries. The driver, a 35-year-old male hailing from Corsicana, along with two juveniles who were identified as a 14-year-old male and a 16-year-old female, were pronounced deceased at the scene. The identities of the deceased have not been released pending notification of their families.
Another juvenile passenger, whose age and gender were not disclosed, was transported to a hospital in Dallas for medical treatment. Remarkably, this individual was the sole occupant in the vehicle who was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Corsicana Independent School District (CISD) confirmed that the two deceased juveniles were enrolled as students within their school system. To support the grieving students, faculty, and staff, CISD has arranged for counselors to be present at the school starting Monday, providing essential emotional support during this difficult time.
Authorities are urging anyone with information related to the incident to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
