On Wednesday evening, September 26, 2024, Titus County Sheriff’s Deputies and Investigators responded to a report of a suspicious structure fire in Mount Pleasant. The fire occurred in a singlewide mobile home located on the 100 block of County Road 1363, which was completely destroyed by the flames.
Upon investigation, deputies developed probable cause to believe that 62-year-old Landel R. Cathcart intentionally or knowingly started the fire that consumed the mobile home, which belonged to another individual. Cathcart was arrested at the scene and charged with the Second Degree Felony offense of Arson with Intent to Destroy a Habitation. He has been booked into the Titus County Jail, where he awaits arraignment.
