Inmate Marcus Andrew Holloway, 39 years of age and described as 6’2 240lbs, escaped.
Shortly before 11 a.m. on Friday, June 9, 2023, Holloway fled while on a work detail. Holloway had been in Morris County Jail since April 18, 2023 on misdemeanor theft, criminal mischief, and evading arrest charges.
The Morris County Sheriff’s Office advised he could be wearing a khaki uniform with a white shirt underneath and possibly blue shorts.
The Morris County Sheriff’s Office, DPS, game wardens, and local city police have been searching the area around Morris County Jail, where Morris escaped. Dogs and drones have also been utilized. They do not consider Holloway to be armed or dangerous.
Holloway's sister posted on facebook: "My brother escaped from Morris County yesterday. I want East Texas to help find him. My brother has always been a troubled person. I believe he has reached his breaking point. In fact, I have known it for years. The "not knowing" of this incident is what is breaking me. I need the help of Tyler and surrounding areas to find him. He has been in Morris County jail since April 18th. I, as his sister, am in fear for his life and the repercussions of his actions for my parents, his 1 year old child and the mother of his child. As far as I know, she resides in Omaha, Texas. Please, do the research and realize the volatile, violence, and suicidal tendencies of my brother and our family and friends. I'm not saying I want him caught because he's a bad person. I just hope someone can find him and give him PROPER TREATMENT. Or at the very least, NOT let him walk of the front door of a Texas Jail and NOT NOTICE! I know law enforcement in Texas is corrupt but give me a break! Are they bored and need attention? If so, it didn't work! I would think news of an escaped prisoner would spread like wildfires through the Piney Curtain. It has not. So publish this information if you want. Please don't paraphrase, I mean every word I say. Also, I want him to know I love him. If I could talk to him...I would say, "Nobody knows you better than I do. Nobody loves you more than I do.""
