On Monday, July 8th, a Hopkins County Deputy conducted a routine traffic stop on a Chevy Trailblazer for a license plate light violation. The vehicle was operated by Brent David Ventres, who appeared visibly agitated and sweating profusely.
During the stop, the deputy noticed various bags and containers in the passenger seat. Upon questioning Ventres about his travel plans, inconsistencies arose in his responses.
With Ventres' consent, a search of the vehicle was conducted, revealing drug paraphernalia, methamphetamine, and cocaine concealed in a safe disguised as a dictionary. Ventres was placed under arrest and the vehicle was impounded.
At the Sheriff's Office, evidence processing confirmed the seizure of 0.66 grams of cocaine, 2.68 grams of methamphetamine, and additional drug paraphernalia. Following processing, the deputy cleared the scene without further incident.
Ventres faces charges including possession of controlled substances. His bond has been set at $10,000.
