Two Arrested in Drug Bust After Being Stopped for No License Plate in Hopkins County

Tiffany Dawn Boykin

Shortly before 8:30 on the evening of June 6, 2023, a Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office deputy observed a vehicle without a license plate traveling Eastbound on Main Street. The deputy conducted a traffic stop on Main Street near Coleman Lake. Upon making contact with the driver of the vehicle, identified as Tiffany Boykin, she advised the deputy that she did not have a valid driver’s license. The passenger, identified as Christopher Hardmon, advised that his driver’s license was expired. While speaking with both occupants of the vehicle, the deputy observed the odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. Hardmon advised the deputy that there was a marijuana blunt in the vehicle. An additional Hopkins County deputy arrived on scene to assist and both occupants were asked to step out of the vehicle for a probable cause search.

In the backseat of the vehicle, deputies discovered a backpack. Inside was a clear baggie containing a white crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine, a glass pipe commonly used to smoke methamphetamine, with a white residue, and a clear baggie containing a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana. At this time, both Boykin and Hardmon were detained in handcuffs and read their Miranda Rights. Both parties denied ownership of the recovered material. The evidence field tested positive for methamphetamine and weighed approximately 5.709 grams.
