Upshur County Man Pleads Guilty to Meth Delivery, Receives 40-Year Sentence

Jabar Okeith Miller

Jabar Okeith Miller, a 49-year-old resident of Gladewater, pleaded guilty to Delivery of Methamphetamines in the 115th District Court in Upshur County today. The crime, which occurred in the Union Grove community on August 2, 2023, involved Miller selling methamphetamines to a confidential informant, captured on video.

Due to a prior felony possession case in Gregg County, Texas, the State filed an enhancement notice, seeking first-degree felony punishment for Miller. He had served prison time for the previous offense.

Under a plea bargain agreement, Miller was sentenced to 40 years in prison, waiving his right to appeal. Additionally, he pleaded guilty to possession of methamphetamine from September 6, 2023, when he was stopped for a traffic violation and found with meth in his pocket. For this charge, he received a 20-year prison sentence.

Both sentences will run concurrently.
