Last night, a routine patrol by a Freestone County Deputy in the Fairfield area led to a significant drug arrest. During a traffic stop, the Deputy observed suspicious behavior from the driver, including profuse sweating and apparent manipulation of an unknown substance.
Upon further investigation, the Deputy discovered the driver was crushing a substance, suspected to be methamphetamine, in his hand. The driver was instructed to exit the vehicle for a search, at which point he began resisting arrest.
Despite the resistance, the Deputy managed to detain the driver safely and recover the crushed substance from the driver's seat. Subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered 6.37 grams of methamphetamine and 20 Xanax pills.
The male driver, whose identity has not been disclosed, now faces multiple charges including possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine and Xanax), resisting arrest, and tampering with evidence.
