Search Intensifies for Missing Elderly Man with Alzheimer’s in Hunt County

On March 5, 2024, at around 12:38 pm, the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office was alerted to the disappearance of 70-year-old Mark Dobson from his residence in the 1600 block of Hunt County Road 4719, Wolfe City, Texas. Mr. Dobson, who suffers from Alzheimer’s, was last seen around 5:00 am that morning.

The Hunt County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division swiftly responded to the report, launching an extensive search effort for Mr. Dobson. A Silver Alert was issued through the Texas Department of Public Safety to aid in the search.

Various agencies joined the hunt, including the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office Deputies, Northeast Texas C.A.R.T. Team, East Texas Regional Community Emergency Response Team, Lone Star Search and Rescue, MARK9 Search and Rescue, Wolfe City Volunteer Fire Department, Fannin County Office of Emergency Management, Fannin County Office of Emergency Management Search and Rescue Team, and Texas Parks & Wildlife Game Warden.

For over two days, search teams utilized K-9 units, drones, and foot patrols in their efforts to locate Mr. Dobson. However, as of Thursday afternoon, he remains unaccounted for.

Described as last seen wearing blue jeans, an unknown color shirt, white New Balance tennis shoes, and a baseball-style cap, Mr. Dobson’s disappearance has prompted an expanded search area. The Hunt County Sheriff’s Office urges the public and property owners within a three-mile radius of the intersection of Hunt County Road 4719 and Farm to Market Road 512 to assist in the search by thoroughly checking their properties, including outbuildings and barns.

Anyone with information on Mr. Dobson’s whereabouts or who requires assistance in searching their property is urged to contact the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office immediately.

UPDATE - March 22, 2024: Dobson has been found deceased.
