On the night of November 25, 2023, Sulphur Springs Police Officers swiftly responded to a call regarding a robbery attempt at Brookshire’s. The victim reported that the suspect, later identified as Walter Vinicio Moreno-Romero, approached him at the gas pumps brandishing a knife.
According to the victim, Moreno-Romero forcibly took the keys to the victim's vehicle, along with other belongings, before fleeing the scene on foot down Whitworth St. Responding units from Sulphur Springs Police and Hopkins County Deputies promptly initiated a search operation in the vicinity.
After an intensive search, law enforcement successfully located and apprehended Moreno-Romero. The suspect is currently facing charges of aggravated robbery.
Earlier in the month Moreno-Romero had been detained in the Hopkins County Jail for public intoxication.
