Double Murder Suicide Being Investigated in Murphy TX

At approximately 6:15 pm, officers were dispatched to an unconscious person call in the 400 block of Whisperfield Drive.  Upon arrival, officers located two deceased victims.

The 57-year-old female and 63-year-old male were pronounced deceased at 414 Whisperfield Dr.  According to Collin County Records, the home is owned by Fred and Tracy Cantu.  Police have not confirmed if they are the victims.

The suspect, 35-year-old male, was transported by Sachse ambulance to Medical City in Plano (MCP) after a self-inflicted injury.  He was prnounced dead at MCP.

Detectives say that there are factors present that strongly indicate this was not a random act of violence.

Collin County is onsite with Murphy Police and Fire.  Also assisting with the scene is Parker Police Department with the crime scene security, and Wylie forensics are processing evidence.

UPDATE:  Murphy Police have provided more details to the case.  When police arrived at the Cantu home, they found Tracy Kay Cantu deceased in the driveway and Federico Cantu Jr. deceased inside the home.  Both had multiple gunshot wounds.

A third individual, found in the backyard, had sustained a gunshot wound to the head.  He was identified as 35-year-old Vincent Cantu, the son of Federico Cantu and stepson of the female victim.

Detectives believe that Vincent arrived at the home just after 6 pm with another individual and attacked his father and stepmother with several weapons.  The other individual has been identified and is being cooperative with the Murphy Police Department.  After attacking his father and stepmother, Vincent turned one of the weapons on himself in an attempt to take his own life.
