On the morning of October 25, 2023, the Sulphur Springs Police Department responded to multiple reports of a disturbance on Whitworth Street just before 9:30 am. Witnesses reported an ongoing altercation involving two males in the roadway, with some witnesses indicating that a firearm was involved.
Officers arrived at the scene, confirming the presence of two males matching the descriptions provided by the callers. Law enforcement approached the individuals and conducted a pat-down search, during which they discovered a firearm concealed in the waistband of one of the men.
The individual found with the firearm was identified as 22-year-old Damiyon Dugan, a resident of Sulphur Springs. Mr. Dugan was placed under arrest without any further incident and subsequently transported to Hopkins County Jail.
Damiyon Dugan faces a charge of "Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon," as per his booking into Hopkins County Jail. His bond amount has been set at $2,000.
