Pedestrian Victim of Hit-and-Run in Terrell Succumbs to Injuries, Authorities Seek Public Assistance

A hit-and-run incident in Terrell on Friday, Aug. 11, 2023, has taken a tragic turn as the pedestrian victim, identified as Jefferson Moufa, aged 31, succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2023. Terrell authorities are now reaching out to the public for assistance in identifying the suspect involved in the case.

The Terrell Police Department responded to a 9-1-1 call from a passerby who reported a severely injured man, Jefferson Moufa, lying in the grass on the side of the road in the 700 block of E. Moore Ave. The victim, listed as homeless in Terrell P.D. records but hailing from Kingwood, Texas, was swiftly transported to Parkland Hospital via a Careflite helicopter for treatment.

Initial investigations conducted by the Advanced Traffic Investigation unit, aided by the Patrol Division, revealed that Moufa had been struck by an unknown vehicle, which subsequently fled the scene of the accident.

Despite prompt medical attention and surgery at Parkland Hospital, Jefferson Moufa's condition remained critical, leading to his unfortunate passing on Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2023.
