GUN BARREL CITY, Texas - A man who had been missing for several days has been found dead following an extensive search involving numerous emergency response agencies in Henderson County.
According to the Gun Barrel City Police Department, Michael Gray, 49, of Gun Barrel City, was reported missing on Aug. 5, 2026.
The Gun Barrel City Police Department, working alongside the Henderson County Sheriff's Office and Texas Search and Rescue (TEXSAR), launched a coordinated search in the area where Gray was last seen.
Search teams ultimately located Gray in the North Twin Creek area, a location characterized by dense woods and waterways.
Death Investigation Underway
Justice of the Peace Precinct 2 Judge Fawns pronounced Gray deceased at the scene and ordered an autopsy.
His body was transported to American Forensics in Mesquite for examination.
Authorities have not released a cause or manner of death. The investigation remains ongoing pending the results of the autopsy.

Officials said the search involved responders working around the clock in a coordinated effort.
