Traffic Stop in Rusk County Leads to Seizure of 11 Pounds of Suspected Cocaine

RUSK COUNTY, Texas - A traffic stop in Rusk County resulted in the seizure of approximately 11 pounds of suspected cocaine and the arrest of a Missouri man on a first-degree felony drug charge, according to the Rusk County Sheriff's Office.

The traffic stop occurred on June 2, 2026, at the intersection of State Highway 315 and Farm-to-Market Road 95.

Authorities said deputies with Patrol Shift D stopped a rental vehicle displaying Florida license plates. During the investigation, deputies conducted a consensual search of the vehicle and discovered suspected cocaine concealed inside the vehicle's door panels.

The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was identified as Jerry Williams, 38, of St. Louis, Missouri.

Williams was arrested at the scene and charged with Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 1, 400 grams or more, a first-degree felony under Texas law.

According to investigators, the suspected cocaine weighed approximately 11 pounds and has an estimated street value of about $80,000.

The Drug Enforcement Administration's Tyler office was notified of the seizure and is assisting the Rusk County Sheriff's Office with the ongoing investigation.

Williams was booked into the Rusk County Jail, where he remains in custody.

Rusk County Justice of the Peace Precinct 5 Judge Jana Enloe set Williams' bond at $250,000.

If convicted, Williams faces a potential sentence ranging from five years to life in prison, with a maximum term of up to 99 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
