Jacksonville Man Arrested After Lengthy Investigation Into Online Sexual Coercion and Stalking

JACKSONVILLE, TX — A Jacksonville man has been arrested following an extensive investigation into allegations of sexual coercion, stalking, and online harassment involving multiple victims.

On March 13, 2026, the Jacksonville Police Department arrested Dewayne Scott Chapline, 58, after a lengthy investigation conducted by the department’s Criminal Investigation Division.

Detectives determined that Chapline engaged in a prolonged campaign of harassment and intimidation using email accounts, social media platforms, and impersonation-style online identities to target victims.

According to investigators, Chapline allegedly used threats and intimidation to pressure one victim into sending sexually explicit images. Authorities said he then used those images to continue threatening the victim and demanding additional content.

Police described the case as complex, requiring numerous subpoenas, search warrants, and extensive digital forensic analysis to trace the online communications back to the suspect.

Investigators spent months reviewing digital evidence before ultimately identifying Chapline as the individual responsible for the communications.

Chapline has been charged with the following offenses:

  • Sexual Coercion (Second-Degree Felony)

  • Stalking (Third-Degree Felony)

  • Online Impersonation (Third-Degree Felony)

  • Obstruction or Retaliation (Third-Degree Felony)

  • Harassment (Class B Misdemeanor)

Authorities said the recommended bond totals $510,000.

Officials praised investigators for their work on the case, noting that it required significant time and effort to uncover the digital trail connecting the suspect to the alleged crimes.

Due to the ongoing nature of the investigation, police said no additional details will be released at this time.
