Tennessee Man Arrested After Early Morning Police Chase From Royse City to Rockwall

Royse City, TX — A Tennessee man was taken into custody early Tuesday morning after leading police on a high-speed pursuit from Royse City into Rockwall before attempting to flee on foot.

According to the Royse City Police Department, the incident began around 1:15 a.m. on March 10, 2026, when an officer attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation on FM 2642.

The driver refused to stop and fled at a high rate of speed, eventually entering westbound Interstate 30. Officers pursued the vehicle as it continued into the city limits of Rockwall.

The chase ended after the suspect vehicle crossed the median and entered the service road just past FM 3549, coming to a stop in the parking lot of a nearby business.

The driver then ran from the vehicle and fled into a wooded area.

Authorities later located the suspect using a drone operated by the Rockwall County Sheriff’s Office. The suspect, identified as Aaron Tyler Newcomb of Andersonville, TN, was taken into custody without incident.

Newcomb was transported to the Hunt County Detention Center since the pursuit originated in Hunt County. He has been charged with multiple offenses, including evading arrest.  His bond was set at $31,000.

Royse City police were assisted during the incident by the Fate Department of Public Safety, the Rockwall County Sheriff’s Office and the Rockwall Police Department. Officials expressed appreciation for the assistance of their law enforcement partners in safely apprehending the suspect.
