Texarkana Man Arrested After Dozens of Animals Found Dead Inside Home

Bryant Savage

Texarkana, TX — A Texarkana man has been arrested after police discovered disturbing conditions inside a home where numerous animals were found dead.

According to the Texarkana Police Department, officers responded to a residence on Rio Grande Street on Friday, March 6, 2026, after receiving a Crime Stoppers tip from someone concerned about the welfare of the homeowner, identified as Bryant Savage.

The caller reported that Savage had not been seen leaving the home in nearly three weeks and said there were numerous cats inside the residence.

When officers and Animal Control arrived, they immediately noticed a strong odor of urine and feces coming from the house. While checking on Savage’s welfare, officers entered the home and discovered extremely disturbing conditions.

Authorities reported finding the remains of numerous cats throughout the house, as well as dead snakes and spiders inside enclosures. Investigators believe the animals died from starvation.

Officers also discovered evidence suggesting the surviving cats had become so desperate for food that they began feeding on the remains of other animals that had already died.

Police said the living room contained piles of feces, urine, bones and blood.

Three cats that were still alive were rescued from the home and taken into custody by Animal Control so they can receive proper care.

Savage was arrested and charged with cruelty to animals. He is currently being held at the Bi-State Jail on a $200,000 bond.

Police said they appreciate the person who reported their concerns to Crime Stoppers, which led to the discovery of the conditions inside the home.
