LONGVIEW, Texas — Firefighters rescued an elderly resident from a burning home Sunday morning after a residential structure fire broke out in Longview.
According to the Longview Fire Department, crews were dispatched at approximately 10:21 a.m. on February 22, 2026, to a reported house fire in the 600 block of Washington Street.
Heavy Smoke Visible Across Area
While units were en route, firefighters observed a large column of black smoke visible from a distance. The first arriving crew reported heavy smoke and flames in the backyard, with fire already extending into the home. A “Working Fire” was immediately declared.
Dispatchers received multiple reports that an elderly individual was still inside the residence.
Resident Pulled From Burning Home
The first arriving fire crew entered the structure and successfully located and removed the trapped resident. Officials confirmed the rescue was completed quickly, preventing injuries.
Additional crews began coordinated operations including:

Firefighters brought the blaze under control using on-scene resources.
Two Residents Displaced
Officials said two adults were displaced by the fire. No injuries to residents or firefighters were reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
