SHERMAN, Texas - A juvenile suspect was taken into custody this week following a shooting late Saturday night that stemmed from a physical altercation between two minors, according to police.
Officers with the Sherman Police Department were dispatched at 9:33 p.m. on January 10, 2026, to the 500 block of North Carr Street after reports of shots fired. When officers arrived, they found evidence confirming a shooting had occurred.
Investigators determined that two juvenile males were involved in a physical confrontation. After the altercation ended, one of the juveniles entered a vehicle and attempted to leave the area. Police said the other juvenile then obtained a firearm and fired multiple rounds at the vehicle as it drove away.
The vehicle was struck several times by gunfire. Authorities said no injuries were reported as a result of the shooting.
Detectives with the department’s Criminal Investigation Division conducted follow-up work over the next several days and recovered additional evidence connected to the incident. Working with Juvenile Probation, investigators obtained a Directive to Apprehend, which functions similarly to an arrest warrant in juvenile cases.
On Tuesday, January 13, 2026, the juvenile suspect was taken into custody and transported to the Juvenile Detention Center. The investigation remains ongoing.
