The Texas A&M University–Commerce Police Department took Dionysus Chawn Henderson into custody Tuesday after responding to a stalking complaint that escalated into a short vehicle pursuit.
At 11:35 a.m., UPD officers were called to the area near Pride Rock Residence Hall for a report of possible stalking. Officers quickly arrived to check on the complainant and secure the area. They located a vehicle driven by Henderson, who was already wanted on an active warrant for harassment.
When officers attempted a traffic stop to serve the warrant, Henderson refused to pull over and fled, leading to a brief pursuit around the campus area. During the encounter, officers deployed a less lethal device, which struck Henderson and allowed officers to detain him safely.
Henderson now faces several charges, including Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon, Resisting Arrest, Evading, and Harassment. Investigators expect to file additional charges as they review statements and evidence tied to the case.
UPD thanked the Commerce Police Department for their assistance and coordinated response, which helped bring the incident to a safe conclusion.
