McKinney High School Teacher Arrested After Drugs Found in Car During K-9 Sweep

Christopher Hawkins

A McKinney Boyd High School teacher is behind bars after police say drugs were found in his car during a routine K-9 sweep of the school parking lot.

According to McKinney Police, 27-year-old Christopher Hawkins, a first-year science teacher and athletic coach, was taken into custody on Monday after a drug-sniffing dog alerted officers to his vehicle. When officers searched the car, they reportedly found illegal narcotics inside.

Hawkins was arrested at the scene and booked into the Collin County Jail.

In a letter sent to parents, McKinney ISD called the situation “deeply disappointing” and said the district remains committed to maintaining a safe and transparent learning environment. Officials noted that Hawkins passed all required background checks before being hired but has since been placed on administrative leave. The Texas State Board of Educator Certification has been notified.

Police have not released additional details about the type or quantity of drugs found, and the investigation remains ongoing.
